Lustre Contemporary presents group of one, Kal Mansur’s first solo exhibition in two years. Bringing together multiple bodies of work, the exhibition traces how ideas move between acrylic, resin, plexiglass, cord, and rope. Mansur draws on the angles and proportions of the built environment, abstracting familiar structures until they become difficult to place. The resulting forms occupy a curious space between recognition and uncertainty.

This ambiguity extends to the experience of looking. Luminous wall works that initially appear flat reveal their depth as the viewer moves; colours emerge at one angle and disappear at another. Translucent materials alternately reveal and obscure their construction, while textured paintings register changes in light. In works made with cord and rope, line acquires a physical presence, occupying space rather than simply marking it. With a quiet nod to the Group of Seven, group of one brings these differing approaches together, revealing the connections that emerge across one artist’s work.
